In the whirling cosmos orphans lie
Seeking a home in friendly skies
Some succor for their lonely lives
Found on our doorstep by surprise
A foundling, baby moon
Earth’s gravitation does entrance
Does Luna watch you whirl and prance
Finding joy in your infant dance
Little sister of circumstance
Captivating mini-moon
A wondrous thing has come our way
In Earth’s bassinet it rocks and sways
But all too soon it will fly away
For isn’t that the way of babes
Sweet little baby moon
Time keeps moving, its tale to tell
Children come and go as well
For childhood is a fragile spell
Which, all too soon, will be dispelled
Farewell sweet
